ডা. ও. জেড. এম. দস্তগীর দেশের স্বনামধন্য ময়মনসিংহ মেডিকেল কলেজ থেকে এমবিবিএস সম্পন্ন করেন, এরপর তিনি জাতীয় অর্থোপেডিক হাসপাতাল ও পূনর্বাসন প্রতিষ্ঠান থেকে ডি.অর্থো এবং এম এস (অর্থো) ডিগ্রি লাভ করেন। এম এস থিসিস পর্বে দেশের স্বনামধন্য স্পাইন সার্জন অধ্যাপক ডা. মো শাহ আলম এর তত্ত্বাবধানে ” Cervical Spine Injuries ” এর উপর গবেষণা সম্পন্ন করেন। বিগত ১০ বছর ধরে ঢাকাস্থ নিটোর হাসপাতালে(পঙ্গু হাসপাতাল) স্পাইন,অর্থোপেডিক্স ও ট্রমা সার্জন হিসেবে কর্মরত আছেন
